First coming to America in 2003, Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire were probably the largest design departure Pokemon has ever seen. Featuring tons of angular, frankly weird looking creatures, a lot of people were initially turned off to the new designs. Much preferring the designs of Gen 1 (Blue/Red) and Gen 2 (Gold/Silver), the games were not as well received by fans initially, despite bringing much of the same gameplay. Time has been far kinder to these generations however, as Pokemon has continued the trend of making new creatures, and the absolute adherence to the nostalgia factor of the first couple of generations as waned somewhat. Capitalizing on this new-found fondness of all things Pokemon thanks to the excellent Pokemon X/Y generation, Nintendo may be hoping to turn around some of its financial troubles, by leaning heavily on nostalgia and its flourishing handheld market. It seems like no details are available yet on any features coming to the game, or being yanked out of the original, but it does seem like the two Legendary Pokemon, Kyogre and Groudon have a lot of extra…flare to them, maybe suggesting a Mega Evolution for each? We will see as Nintendo releases more information in the coming months. For now though, here is what appears to be the possible box art for the new games, and the barebones, reveal nothing trailer.
