Blood Sport was a pretty silly idea. For those of you who haven’t seen this wonder of science, it is a device that wires the rumble function of a game controller up to a blood collection device, similar to what you would see when donating blood. It is then set to where you get actual blood drawn from you when you take damage in a game, like in Call of Duty. The Kickstarter claimed to be the “Ultimate in immersive gaming.”, which I guess is true if you always thought you really didn’t get to bleed enough when playing games. While the folks behind this experiment were claiming this had positive uses, such as setting up CoD tournaments that involve blood donation, Kickstarter did not agree that this was a good idea.
Instead of even risking a modern-day torture device being successfully crowd-funded, Kickstarter has suspended funding on the Blood Sport as of 6 days ago. While the project only got to $3390 out of its $250000 goal, this is probably for the best. While this is kind of a funny idea, I really don’t think drawing blood from me while I get virtually shot should actually be done. Video games are a lot of fun, donating blood is a very worthy cause, but those two things should not really meet. At least not in this way.
